Thursday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Thursday morning …

Interesting release by the SEC on Wednesday that addressed its efforts to improve fan experience for its fans in league stadiums.

There has been so much attention placed on getting the SEC Network launched that the stadium fans have been forgotten. Yeah, those people that pay about $100 or $150 after parking and food have been forgotten.

I got into journalism for different reasons than some. I had classmates who wanted to make a difference. I respect that, but I wanted to get into games free.

My parents were not sports fans, so when I was a kid, going to a college game was a big, big deal. I was thrilled.

All the games weren’t on TV. I still enjoy the stadium experience, but I’ll tell you, I feel like I am missing something by not being able to take more than one or two Saturdays and watch a bunch of games on my big screen at home. Funny how that works.

The SEC release specifically mentions more music but also notes a rules change that will allow stadium boards to show “replays of officials’ reviews.” Should be interesting. …

Shortly before Ole Miss and Boise kickoff next Thursday Texas A&M and South Carolina will get under way. Here’s an Aggies depth chart, and you know depth charts are always truthful:

Looks like the Aggies have a running back situation similar to Ole Miss:

CBSSports.com lists its preseason All-America team. Cody Prewitt makes second team. Robert Nkemdiche loses second-team spot to MSU’s Chris Jones. …

It’s not terribly uncommon in our part of the world for hurricanes to disrupt football, but here’s something you don’t read every day. …

Minus Miller, Ohio State players say they haven’t given up on the season. …

Well, if you thought you’d seen and heard all the preseason All-SEC teams, here’s one more. The league coaches will announce their squad tomorrow night on The SEC Network:
